Project Update – Football Academy Makululu Compound Kabwe

One of our Zambia based volunteers Tainess has sent us some photos of her football players wearing football kits purchased with our funds and with balls which we donated. The young people play in bare feet. Tainess has also purchased some football boots.

Last year Tainess established a football academy for vulnerable children and young people in Makalulu Compound in Kabwe the largest informal settlement in Zambia, and the second largest in Africa exceeding Soweto. Training commenced on 29th December 2025. Our chair Tim visited the academy in June this year and met the three coaches, Richard, Casper, and Rhona, together with a colleague who helps Tainess with running the academy. Tim said in a report to ZST “It was inspiring to see the boys and girls enjoying their football, playing with energy, enthusiasm, and skill”
