Tim Legge’s (ZST Chair) visit to Zambia and reports on projects June 2026 part three.

“Yesterday morning (Thursday) Tainess and I travelled to Mpunde Mission, where we received the usual warm welcome from Father Adam, who is very hospitable and provided a delicious lunch.

This year the harvest has been good so he said there will be no hunger among the people in his poor community.

We were delighted to see again four of the young people he has sponsored through school and college with our funds.

They were:
1. Ephraim, the first graduate who is a teacher at the Mpunde Girls' School
2. Emmanuel, who qualified as a Registered Nurse last year
3. Mumba, who also qualified as a nurse last year. You may recall that Tainess represented ZST at their graduation ceremony, (attending after working a night shift), with Fr Adam
4. Veronica, who completed her grade 12 studies last year and is considering what to do next - possibly nursing or a practical skills course.”

‍ “In the late afternoon we watched members of Tainess' football academy at a practice session in Makululu Compound in Kabwe the largest informal settlement in Zambia, and the second largest in Africa exceeding Soweto.

It was inspiring to see the boys and girls enjoying their football, playing with energy, enthusiasm, and skill. We met the three coaches, Richard, Casper, and Rhona, together with a colleague who helps Tainess with running the academy. I was impressed to see how well the project is running. Tainess and her team are doing excellent work with their young people.”
