14.15 - 16.00     Overview of the projects, with particular emphasis on the following:

St Lawrence Home of Hope rescues children from the streets of Lusaka. They offer a home, counselling and education to any child that wants to stop living on the street. At the same time, they try to reintegrate the child with their family wherever this is possible. Jaček Rakowski, Director of the Home of Hope, has been with the project from the early days and he will describe the work. He is a recognised authority on the problems of street children and recently addressed the National Assembly of Zambia on the topic. Jacek will be speaking live from Lusaka.

Pilgrim - Salt in the Community. Jastin and Grace Sholoma were saddened by the desperate needs and severe malnutrition of remote rural villagers in Serenje District. They created a “resource village” to provide a school, a health clinic, a church, a farm, residential huts, and skills training, including improved agricultural methods and crop diversity. The local villagers are actively involved. Much has been achieved over the past ten years, and it stands as an innovative model for community development that could be replicated more widely.
