Annual General Meeting of The Zambia Society Trust 2011
A well-attended Annual General Meeting took place on Saturday 5 November at the Zambia High Commission.
The retiring Chairman, James Cairns, was thanked for his long service to the Trust and John Barnard – already a committee member – was elected as the new Chairman. Two new members also joined the committee – Mathias Mbewe and Peter Fleming.
In his report to the meeting, James thanked the High Commissioner and his staff for opening Zambia House especially for us on a Saturday. Following a buffet lunch, His Excellency Prof Mukwena welcomed members, and this was followed by a talk by James Cairns on Zambia and The Zambia Society Trust.
Daniel Mwamba, publisher of UKZambians magazine and website, was scheduled to speak on his ideas for the role of small charitable organisations like ZST. Unfortunately a family bereavement prevented him from attending, and his speech was read for him by John Barnard.
